Tangram and the Indianapolis Public Library have partnered on an Innovation Pilot Program Grant to raise awareness about the need for Adult or Universal Changing Stations and increase the number of changing stations in Marion County and throughout Indiana. These stations are full-size changing tables that allow individuals with mobility needs to be changed safely, with dignity and respect.
Reports indicate that, in the absence of such facilities, individuals are often changed on the floor of a bathroom, in the back of a car, or wherever space can be found. Some individuals even avoid going out or limit their outings due to the lack of safe, dignified, and respectful changing spaces.
The installation of these changing stations will enhance the Library’s commitment to creating an open and accessible environment for everyone, and support Tangram’s mission to ensure that everyone can live full, meaningful and happy lives at home and as members of the community. With these stations, individuals can turn a simple trip to the library into an afternoon of shopping, dining, and enjoying the area, knowing they have a place to address their basic needs properly.
The Library is currently installing Adult/Universal Changing Stations at the Nora, Pike, and Central Libraries. Recently, Sam Criss, Tangram’s CEO, along with Darolyn “Lyn” Jones and her son Will, completed the recording for the marketing campaign for this project. Check out some of the pictures taken during the recording as the Nora Branch prepares to open soon!
Tangram wants to thank the Indianapolis Public Library and the Jones Family for the commitment and support of this project.
